Web and Movie Resources

Before You Go to the Movies…

Have you ever attended or rented one of those “family movies” that is marketed to children, only to encounter content that shocks you and your kids?  A couple of great movie review websites for parents are www.screenit.comand www.pluggedinonline.org.  “Screen It” is great because it provides great detail about a variety of content issues. (One tip: To use the site for free, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click the “NO THANKS” box.)  “Plugged-In” is a resource of Focus on the Family, so it offers a distinct Christian perspective of the movies they review.  Get “in the know” before you go!

Safe Surfing…

If you and your kids are surfing the Internet at home without some type of content protection, it’s only a matter of time before some inappropriate content pops up on your screen.  And remember, innocence is only lost once!  There are many great tools to protect your computer from pop-ups and adult content.  BSafe online (www.bsafehome.com) is a well-recommended tool that does a great job of protecting your computer from all sorts of problems.  Whatever you use, install something to protect your family from the potential hazards of the Internet.
